Stuggling with data fields and grouped shapes

I am trying to do something similar to this template
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=26514
So it appears to be a grouped shapes with data fields inserted into the sub shapes, where you can click on the group and assign the data values
I know to assign data to a shape but can't work out how to do it with a group. I either get sub groups with their own data sets which can't be accessed by clicking the group or a data set for the group where I can place the field in the individual sub shape
Any enlightenment would be appreciated

Hi,
you can access properties of other shapes (which could be the group from a subshape) like this:
=Sheet.1!Prop.Name
This works in "Insert > Field > Custom Formula" and in the shapesheet.

Thomas
