How does autoconnect from orgchart works?

I have a strange issue with one orgchart, created earlier.
Its shapes now do not want to auto connect to others with drag-n-drop operation and I do not know why.
If I add 2 new shapes on that chart they will be able to autoconnect to each other, but not to the older ones.
How can I fix it?

Did you ever find a solution. I just had this happen to me on Visio 2007, It suddenly does not recognize any of my shapes as OrgChart Items

When you load the diagram does the Org Chart menu appear?
