Hello MS Visio users,

I want to create a sample Windows Explorer directory structure for others to follow. Is there a simple way of doing this in Visio? Perhaps built in stencils?

I was thinking to use the Org Chart function to create the directory structure and use the Insert Picture option to view the file/folder icon. This works great but the spacing between the icon and the text is large and I haven't found a setting to control this spacing.

Any ideas or comments from other Visio users?

Thank you.

Hi EE,

The wireframe stencils/templates have tree-control shapes that will help you to do this.

Specifically, try this stencil:

More Shapes > Software and Database > Software > Controls.

And these shapes:

Tree control
Tree control item

Thank you for your reply.

I like displaying the individual file icons for clarity. Is there a way to do that for the tree control/tree control item? Also, how do I remove the +/- symbol if it doesn't apply, such as for a file.
