making tabs hide and or appear

Looking for a way to hide a tab(s) if and when they have not been used.
Example...
I am creating a BOM (bill of materials) form. Each tab will have either a manufacturing process or a a component. When creating the BOM and
that need not use a selected tab I would like that tab to hide so others in the company can not see it.
