Will using more master stencils reduce the size of my file?

My Visio document has become extremely large (over 100MB, 252 pages). Although the document opens and is responsive, it freezes every few minutes. I've tried every solution out there to stop it freezing, so it seems like it is just down to it being too big.

I am currently using about 20 master stencils, would using more masters reduce (or increase?) the size of the document?

At what point is it worth making a master for something? i.e. If I use the same image on more than 5 pages?

Thank you,
Lloyd.

To answer my own question, it appears it does!

Combining 5 text boxes into a master that appear on 6 pages, I've knocked off 500KB :)

I'm still curious though, at what point is it worth making something a master in terms of reducing size? I've only used them for convenience before (when I have a need to change something in many places at once), but if it saves space, then is it worth making a master for everything that is used more than once??
