Is there a way for master edits to reflect in placed stencil? For example, I place out an attribute, then later make a change to that master, which updates the placed attribute accordingly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

stencil shape updates are ONLY for the stencil....not where that shape is actually used

To update a shape in place (aka 343 uses of shape x on sheet Y in file Z), open the document stencil and edit there....those changes
are reflected to all shapes in use in this file

The key is that there are 3 entities involved:
1. The [master] Stencil
2. The Document Stencil
3. The Document [i.e. the drawing]
When you drag a shape from the [master] Stencil onto your Document [drawing] a copy of the shape is created in your drawing AND in your drawing's Document Stencil.
The instance of the shape in your drawing is associated w/ the shape in your drawing's Document Stencil, not the [master] Stencil.
Additional copies of the shape from the [master] Stencil drug onto your drawing are all associated with the shape in your drawing's Document Stencil.
Editing of the Document Stencil shape will be reflected in all instances of the shape in the drawing.
Editing the shape in the [master] Stencil will not be reflected in any instances of the shape already in your drawing.
But, after editing the [master] Stencil shape, dragging a copy to your drawing will of course place a revised version of the shape in the drawing AND a new/revised version of the shape in the Document Stencil. Edits of that revised shape in the Document Stencil will be reflected only in the instances of the shape that were added to the drawing after the symbol in the [master] Stencil was changed.
