How to stop connectors to reroute when adding new connection?

Hello,

I am using Visio 2016 Professional. I am working on a schematic diagram and I am having all sorts of issues with my connectors turning into a mess as I add more connections. This seems to be the worst when I am using stencils from the Electrical Engineering shapes library, and doesn't seem to happen if I'm doing something like making a basic shapes flowchart from a blank page. Here's an example of the issues I am seeing:

1.) Connectors before:

2.) If I add an intermediate connector, the existing connectors are rerouted. I don't want this!

3.) I also found that if I go back and edit these connections later by deleting one, the node splits and is discontinuous. This is a pain when making changes to an existing diagram. Sometimes I have to delete all the connectors and start over. :(

It might not see that terrible in this example, but I can assure you that it makes large diagrams illegible. This has been a huge productivity drain, any tips? I have attached the file from the pictures for reference.

Thank-you!
