How to select a an item within a box

IM using Visio 2003 sp2 to design GUI Web screens.

The screens entry fields which I have copied from Visio templates. These entry fields have borders and 3d shadow effects but can be moved as one item.

For clarity, some of the entry fields have a rectangle box around them.

I have embedded the visio screen in a word document.

When I need to edit the screen, I paste it back in to visio, all of the data is grouped together.

To edit the document, I select all, then ungroup.

One of the problems I have is that I cannot now select one of the data entry boxes because when I try to use area select, the outer rectangle is selected rather than the entry box.

The other issue is that when I ungroup, the data entry field is now ungrouped in to 6 different elements meaning its very hard to select all of it and move it to another location. I can do ctrl mouse click to select individual items but not area select to select the entire entry field as the surrounding box is selected instead.

Keep the original Visio document, copy and paste the screen into Word, but don't paste back into Visio. Use the Visio document as the master.
