How do I conditionally hide shapes within a smart shape?

Hello guys!! Good afternoon.
For instance, i have one shape of a gate valve and with right click of the mouse i can choose other valves that are also symbols. How can I do that? I know how to do it with Autocad but i would like to know how to do it with  Visio. Any idea?
