Layers and Shape Counts

Hello,

Does anyone know how to correct the shape count when assigning a layer to a shape. For instance I created a layer called computers and assigned it to the pc shape within the default Computer and Monitor shapes. When I drop the shape into my document I am getting # count of 25 for each computer and likewise when I LCD shape I get a count of 6 per shape...

Any help to correct this where each shape only counts as 1 is much appreciated!

These shapes are groups, and the shapes on layer count includes all sub-shapes within the group.
