A few more things I'd like to see
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:17:06 AM »
Here are a few suggestions I've posted recently on the Visio Enthusiasts group on LinkedIn:

1. Allow rendering of text < 1pt.

2. Restore zoom +/- the full zoom range of 1% to 2914%, it currently limits from 10% to 400% (yes, I know you can click the %age symbol at just type a value (and that value is wrong outside the 1-400% range)).
Also should not the center selection on zoom work? Mine doesn't (it is enabled in Options).

3. Restore the colour settings that previous versions of Visio had. The current options of silver, blue and black are rather limited.

ya know

RE text.....it might be real helpful to have an absolute reference to font vs the relative reference   (add a new font to your system and it screws up shapes and stencils down previously)

I think it would be nice simplify 2.5D or even crude 3D efforts.....take all of June's insight and make it friendly to novices.
Maybe not rotate/orbit....but maybe simiplify the true 3D coordinates to 2D renderings.....if need be, up in settings, pick a reference point or 1 of a few standard views (iso, ana)
(now that sketchup is dead or at least relegated to validating the need for 2,345,687 versions of the Sydney Opera house.....user either do 2D drawings or dig into a serious cad program)

More polished animation and full screen usage

Hi Paul --

I think your zoom function is broken.  My V2010 has same functionality (more?) than V2007...
Zoom function                   V2007                     V2010
Percentage Window           50 - 400                   10 - 400
Manual Insert                    any, lims to 3098      any, lims to 3098
+ / -                                 1 to 3000                 1 to 3000
Center on Zoom                 yes                          yes

I think your zoom function is broken.

How strange! How can that be?

Since I don't have a serious answer...Could it be the "British" version?   ;)

Anyway, I just wanted to point out the behavior that I noticed, using two different versions, each on a different machine.

Perhaps someone else will check their V2010 behavior and add to the comments.

My 2010 version (British) will zoom to 2915 if you are working with a 'pure' Visio page, if you import a jpg onto the page the zoom is limited to 1495, delete the jpg/pdf etc and the zoom reverts to 2915 and in all cases it zooms to drawing centre.

Mine is the MSDN version, not sure if that makes a difference.

Letter sized paper (8.5" x 11")

Max zoom = 3098%
Add a bitmap, then only 1585%

Zoom is also page size dependent. Make your page size smaller and you'll get more zoom.
