Hi,

This is linked to another thread i have posted:

http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=9738.0

I am trying improve the workflow for drawing lenses. I have created a design using two arcs and some lines. I looked at using the shapesheet to make this parametric but when i group the two arc i lose the ability to edit the required parameters, am i missing something?

For each arc i would like to edit the length and angle. I would also like to control the separation between the two lens surfaces.

Douglas

Hi,

yes i had looked at that pack but it doesn't offer the flexibility to adjust the dimensions that i require.

Hi,

I have worked out bits of the shapesheet for the individual arcs that would form the two surfaces of the lens that i am interested in. I am now confused as to how i link them together when i group the sketch into one object. I want to be able to enter R1 and R2, use the sag based on R2 to set the lens thickness ad use the height of the group to set the semi-diameter of R1. Can anyone offer any advice?

I looked that the youtube tutorial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDzLW7RTLKY

but that seems to take properties in the opposite direction in that it uses group parameters to drive the sub-shape properties.

Thanks,
Douglas

Threw together this lense shape.  It's kinda crude, but workable.  Did not do extensive testing.  Feel free to use, copy, fold, and mutilate.

Hi Wrapperdude,

Thank you for spending time on this, i started messing about with it and have developed it into the attached drawing, still needs a little bit of tidy up.

Cheers,
