This is a re-post from earlier and it may have been lost as it was an addendum to a different post.

What I'd like to do is.. If I have a object let's just say I create a plain box from the drawing tool bar, I add text to this box. I add that box to a layer and the layer has a color property (color irrelevant). As te normal a result is the bock and text turn the color of the layer. How do I protect the text attributes so that the text remains the default black no matter what the layer properties are.

Anyone ... anyone .. Bueller? <-- those of you who gets this reference are getting old too..

Thx,

I must be too old. . . don't get the reference.   ???

I'm not aware of anything that can be done via the shapesheet to keep the text from assuming the layer color.  So, there are at least two options:
1.)  Pre-color the shape lines and don't use the layer color feature, or
2.)  Make a groupped shape.
a.)  apply the layering to the original shape as before, but don't add any text.
b.)  create a separate text box, align the two shapes and group.

The layer will only affect the original shape and not the text.

Sorry, neither of these solutions are very elegant.

Perhaps other solutions will show up.
