I have shapes on a drawing that behave in an odd fasion. One shape has text entered into the text box but the box is not visible unless it is selected.

The other shape will not even allow me to enter text into the text box (no cursor is presented) when that text box is selected.

Can anyone help me resolve these issues?

Thanks,

Steven

The first things we need to know are what type of diagram s it and what type of shapes?
Oh yes, and what version of Visio?

I am using Visio 2007 (not by choice) SP2. This is a network drawing. The shapes with the problem are stencils that I downloaded from Cisco.

Nothing wrong with Visio 2007.
We'll need stencil name and shape names.

One stencil is called "Switches - Catalyst 3560" and the shapes were named WS-C3560-48PS-Front & WS-C3560-8PC-S. These shapes will let me select the text box but will not let me input any text into the box.

The other stencil is called "Switches - Catalyst 2960" and the shape is named "WS-C2960-48TC-L". This stencil allowed me to enter text into the text box but the text is not visible on the drawing.

I was able to find the "Hide Text" value that was set to something other than "False" That fixed the issues where the text was entered but not visible.

Now I just need to solve the issue where I select the text box but will not let me input any text into the box.

I found another value on the stencil called "IsTextEditTarget" that had been set to False. I changed it to true and that fixed the issue.

Thanks All!
