Many servers today have complex polygon grid for ventilation.  Most of them are now using 6 sides polygons shape.

Yes I have the macro for creating the 6 side shape from Visio Guy.

I there a way to create them faster than cut & paste each shape one-by-one or group. They tend to be hard to align precisely too.

All I need is a way to add automatic row, and columns and correct the shape size.

I'm not good in VB as you can see.

Any one as created a macro to do this task?

Hi jdt,

I would create a custom fill pattern to do this, so I don't have to draw each hexagon.

This article: Bubble Revision Shapes talks about creating a line pattern, but at the bottom of the article are links to information about creating custom fill patterns as well.

well....a simple easy "poor mans" way to do this is to have a background page with polygons (hand drawn even).  A foreground page would use this background page (on page insert or page properties...pick the background of issue).  You may want to play with print properties to make sure background can be printing.

From here there are various steps up in complexity (polygons on foregrnd with guard on,  polygons on a
different layer on foreground, etc).

One thing to note is that grid settings on the page will not allow variable settings on grid (y=sin(x) for
example).   So I would not play with the grid settings of foreground pages.

I understood jdt's "grid" to mean a graphical entity - the way the servers look. Not a grid for alignment.

He want's his shape to have a cool hex pattern...right?

Thanks a lot!  This is excellent but not perfect...

It will help me a lot for 80% of the job.  Excellent for doors or front panels.

What about grids with holes for screws, cutout and irregular matrix often seen at the back of some servers?
