Hello all

Hopefully someone can help sort this?

Why do the yellow connectors in the ethernet shape NOT glue to other shapes. How can I change their behaviour?

Thanks

Have you verified that you have gluing enabled -- Tools > Snap & Glue?

The other place to check is the shapesheet of the Ethernet shape.  Select the shape, then menu bar > Window > Show Shapesheet.  Scroll down to the Controls section.  Scroll to the right and make sure that each listed control has Can Glue set to true.

The yellow diamonds will only glue to connecton point.

I was having the same problem. I found that the shapes I'm trying to connect the Ethernet yellow control handles to must have a connection point in order for gluing to happen. To add a connection point:

  • First highlight the shape in question with a left click
  • Then click on the Connection Point tool, which is an X in the Tools section (in Visio 2013 anyway)
  • Hold down the Ctrl key and click with the mouse somewhere on the shape. A red dot will be deposited. Connection point achieved.
  • Now, highlight the Ethernet shape
  • You can now drag one of the yellow control handles to the connection point you just created on the shape in question. It will highlight green when you can let go of the mouse button
