Need a solution similar to Window on Wall stencils

When constructing a room layout it is common to drag and drop a window, or a door or any other opening onto a wall and it will look like there is a break in the wall with the desired shape connected to it. How does one implement this behavior? I have a similar task which involves showing a break in a tube or pipe, which an additional pipe can be connected to.
