Since I am planning to buy Visio 2010, I want to know how is Visio helpful to Infrastructure Specialist. I have heard a lot on it and also did some research and found many interesting stuff like it helps in monitoring data, draw plans and more. So want to know in detail. Also I want to understand the difference between different editions of Visio i.e. Visio Pro, Premium and Standard. Can anyone help me on this?

"Infrastructure Architect" is pretty vague (network, applications, security, and systems management all claim portions of that title). Since Visio can play in a lot of areas maybe you might add a little more.

It is really a good idea to buy Visio. For Infrastructure Specialist Visio 2010 helps in following ways:

1) Monitoring data to view alerts in real time
2) Send results with Visio Services for SharePoint 2010 to inform technicians where to act
3) Post designs with Visio Services for SharePoint 2010 so technicians can implement them
4) Draw plans and rack elevations more quickly with new features and many more

The difference between different editions of Visio are, Visio 2010 Premium is a package that contains all the features that are available in Visio 2010 Standard and Pro i.e.
- Easy diagram creation
- Intuitive navigation
- Dynamic web sharing
- Intelligent validation
- Dynamic, data-driven shapes
- New process management tools for modeling business processes, including BPMN and SharePoint workflow
