Your favo(u)rite post
« on: May 23, 2010, 12:21:56 PM »
I've been playing with visio for the last 10 years, without anybody to talk about it.
When I discovered the visguy homepage last year and later it's forum it was like I came home  :'(.
(It's easier to find someone to talk about your latex underwear. :D)
I learned so much here and enjoy helping others to solve visio problems.

I've been thinking about this for a while and the idea is ripe - especially after having read this post - : what are the most useful tricks I discovered here?

I'll setup a table in a second post (no sufficient table features in this forum :() and welcome everybody to participate in filling it. It could become a kind of summary or table of content of the forum.
I don't know if a charting capability is given in the forum. Let me know.

1) Setting up an array with the formula: EventDrop = SETF(GetRef(Prop.Nr),Prop.Nr+1) from VisGuy
Because that allows you to implement dependent arrays - similar to the excel fillout capabilities.
Category: Shapesheet

2) How can i set connectors to avoid crossing certain shapes from Ivan.
We dived deep in the connectors routing issues. Problem not solved.

3) Rotate Angle Connectors from Darryll.
The back and forth in the communication with Darryll was too funny. Enjoid playing with the idea.

Nice idea for the thread!

Here are some of my favorites:

1. Visio Word Art from JuneTheSecond
2. Perspective Drawing also from JuneTheSecond
3. Isometric Piping Stencils: Example Drawings has many fine examples from Stefan and others.

You would just survive without fun.
Exclusively doleful, mournful colours occupiying your routine.
Sun's course producing exclusively tenebrous thoughts.
Your subsistence lust consumes without rescue.

Visguy's Forum though hopefully would construe your guests' contributions valuations.

Salutations affectueuses,

Chris,
I can't figure out, how to best implement this post. In the age of Wikis, Social Networks and so on, there should be a more comfortable way to gather contributions.
I had a quick look at SMF, they don't seem to offer something in this category.
What do you think?

Well, just because I've set up the forum doesn't mean that I know anything about how to administer it! :)

I know that the SMF forum uses plug-ins called mods. A couple of features that this forum probably needs are:

1. Post/thread ratings, where users can quickly rate a response with 1 - 5 stars.
2. Thread/Question Solved button. So threads can be marked as closed, even if they aren't really frozen shut.
3. Buy me a Beer donation widget needs to be re-installed and configured

Paul H. has been wonderful at keeping the spammers out and other administrative things, as has wapperdude.

If anybody knows anything about the SMF forum, or discovers any cool features that should be implemented, then either send me a Personal Message, or post your idea in the Suggestion Box.

For now, we do have the top posts by response and view, on the More Stats page.

Sorry, did not mean to hassle you. Sure, it was the Homer Simpson in me, dumb dumb me.

I understand well that it is up to us users to work out the stuff we want additionaly. You did already a quite good job.

I'll have myself a closer look on the SMF site and re-adress the question at that lazy pack here  :D.

Pal, you still owe me a propper answer. I deserve it. It was hard enough to work it out with Leo and other synonym tools... and you began!  :D

Wiki or not Wiki, that's not really the question. We are Visioneers!
How about a diagramm? Here's a first sketch.

I'll welcome anyone to update it and it's shapes.
Don't even dare mentioning other mindmapping tools. We can do it with Visio!
----
Update 01.06.2010:
inserted some of the shapes themselves in the mindmap lines (you access them by double clicking). So the diagram is a kind of repository. I'll probably need to split the diagram later, when it becomes too big.
----
Update 01.06.2010 #2:
I took the liberty to add some of my own postings. Please don't understand it as arrogance, I just want to save my work somewhere.

Hi guys,
there's been lately so many very useful posts. Once you need them, you begin the search - which is not the best in the SMF forum platform.
Any chance we could rate the posts or categorise them to "re"-find them faster?

The search box on the main www.visguy.com web page is "powered" by Google, and probably works better. Wonder if I can hook one into the forum...
