Side view of screw
« on: January 08, 2010, 08:50:03 AM »
Anyone know where I can get a free version of a screw shape? Need to draw a side view of a piece of HVAC equipment that includes a screw, nut, washer... Thanks much!!

If you have the Professional version then such shapes are in the Fasteners 1 and Fasteners 2 stencils.

Nope, don't have Professional... just 2007 SP2.  :(

Also available in the old Visio Technical 4.1.

Why not draw your own?  The shape isn't that involved.  BTW, the Visio shape doesn't show actual threads, just dotted lines that run the length of the shaft to indicate where the thread "valley" would be.

Hey, dashed-lines instead of threads are very typical in mechanical drawings! Nobody draws all the threads!

(Ok...I made the fastener shapes for Visio Corp. long, long ago :) )

Oh, I wasn't saying the dashed lines were bad, I was just trying to provide a hint on how to draw their own -- short of buying Visio Pro, or Visio Tech 4.1.

However, I DO know of an individual that would draw the threads!!!   ;D

Ok, I couldn't find a side view of a screw, but here's a three-quarter view:
