hi,
is there a way to extract embedded objects from a visio document and save them physcialy.example i have inserted an object(word document) in my visio page.
I need to extract that object and save it on my desktop.

Thank you

Select the object, right click, at bottom of menu choose Document Object >
Open.  (Choosing "Edit" only allows you to make changes inplace.)

That brings up the object's native application.  Then you can do Save Copy
or Save As.

Nice job, wapperdude!

I wonder how hard it would be to write some code that would walk a document, find objects, and "do its best" to export to files. I swear I did something like this once, but I think it was walking Word objects, extracting ABC Flowchart (aka Micrografx, iGrafx, Corel Flow) objects, then importing them to Visio...somehow!
