We have been using 2002 for years, but a couple computers now have 2003 installed. Whenever a 2002 file is open with 2003, some of the text is changed to a larger font size. Usually it is a bill of materials or order of operations text block that gets enlarged right off the page.

There are some pages that are messed up, and other that are fine. Sometimes only part of the text on a page will be changed.

Does anyone know why this happens and if I can fix it?

Thanks

Visio Guy

Hi Rachel,

Is the font size way bigger, or just slightly bigger. OR is your text wrapping by chance?

I remember writing some code for a client (to fix 2.1 million Visio drawings!) that had something to do with this, but I don't remember anything but text wrapping oddly for some reason.

I believe the easy fix was to increase the text block margins, but in some cases I actually had to decrease the font size, check for wrapping, decrease a bit more, etc.

You can change the text block margins under: Format > Text > Text Block Tab.

Hi Visio Guy,

I checked out the Text Block Tab and found that when the text is larger (10pt instead of 6pt), the text size is UNKNOWN_TOKEN_0. Input the correct text size and it goes back to normal. There isn't a problem with wrapping. The same thing occurs in Visio 2007.

It is easy enough to correct the font here and there, but it gets to be a pain when you have to do it on every page in a 50 page document, and worst when you have many drawings. It is also a problem for project managers who want to be able to quickly print off some drawings without needing to edit them.

Is this just a compatibility problem? Is there a way to change what font Visio defaults to? Or would I need to write some code to fix all the drawings?

Thank you for your help!

Hi Rachel,

That's pretty weird. I don't remember the UNKNOWN_TOKEN_0 thing...I wonder if it's a font index problem. Would you mind sending me a file? I'm curious to look at the guts of this thing.

You should see an envelope icon under my head up there to the left...

Will do... as soon as I find a small enough file to get through to your mailbox!

Since this is the only other thread on the web that shows up with visio and unknown_token_0 I thought I would bump it to see if it jars anyones memory related to my problem in this thread http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=1106.msg4820#msg4820
