I want to draw an inverted U-shaped curve like this one and be able to divide in into 3 sections, but have the tops align with the curve.

I tried using an ellipse, but the shape was not quite right. I tried using the arc tool, but couldn't get it symmetrical.
I'd appreciate any tips.
Thanks
I figured out how to get the right curve, now I need help with the color shading. This was my first try:

That's OK, but I'd like the yellow to be less of a narrow stripe. So I tried adding another yellow gradient stop:

I'm not sure if that's better. So I tried adding two more stops halfway between red and yellow and halfway between yellow and green.

That worse. How can I get a smoother transition between the colors?
Thanks
Mostly it's about making music, you know, fiddling.
Attached is an example that shows some techniques for refining the fill gradients.
You are on the right track. The file includes multiple color stops that change the transparency. It also adds a 2nd shape, in this example, solid yellow. It too could have gradient fills to increase the options, and complexity. Mostly, this was to stimulate possibility ideas.
That pretty cool, if a bit complicated.
Thanks
