Title: What are your favourite tools / add ons?
Post by: ToninoS on July 19, 2022, 11:56:10 AM
Good day all,
I have been using visio for about 12 years and dont really use any addons (either directly in visio or 3rd party external). I was wondering if maybe you all sharing your favourites may just help me to find something that would help me increase productivity or even exend the use of what I currently do.  I use visio right now to produce High level connection diagrams, oranigrams, drawins to convey concepts, infographic type spec sheets and a few other bits.
Thanks all :)
Tonino

naked Visio here.

Not really, Use MS Access over VBA for the daily work
and direct hardcore shape handling with Jupyterlab and Python when extras are required.

There are several tools I checked and found valuable:
- Paul Herber's tool collection
- Nikolay Bailey's tools  - smartshape tool and export tool.
Have only used them for very specific needs though.

Otherwise relying on my own tools alone (macros stored in stencils). --> will depend on your daily work type.

I think my main point is that I don't rely on any of the solutions M$ provides. Targeting Visio's objects directly has shown to be the most efficient path.

For publishing Visio diagrams to the web, svg-publish is highly recommended:

So many options that Visio doesn't offer, a unique product highly recommended!

Hi there, svgpublish looks like it might be something im interested in.  for instance i was thinking to publish our company oranigram and have the persons details pop up but i do  not really see how to do it or any detailed instructions, does anyone know if there may be any further instructions/tutorials out there for this product? Cheers :)

OK, i did find a few videos on youtube that seem pretty straight forward.  One thing that struck me though is that the newest video is 4 years old. makes me wonder if there will be issues if i get the commercial license and then have issues?

So..  i have been playing with it and have gotten the shape data to show up in the sidebar but not in the Popovers, have tried lots of the options but nothting... is the popover supose to show the shape data or something else?  I tried Firefox, chrome and IE with no luck on popovers. any ideas?  cheers :)

Nikolay provides excellent support, for people who use Visio regularly the product is simple to use. You can trial it first which is how I found out this is a must-have product for me!
