In summary: the exact same version of Visio may act very differently because Microsoft has remotely changed Visio's behavior, and you have zero control over this!
(I am quite sure this has nothing to do with my other question, but I have a hunch this relates to other Visio behavior we might have encountered in the past year)
Featuregates sounds like a pretty good feature, but not without some drawbacks.
