I had some success with custom patterns before and I became overly complacent. Visio must've felt it because it's giving me a hard time. Any ideas?

Hi, I just want a regular old line. I just made that blob to illustrate the problem but if I do a Connector or anything my custom line is still off.

The only difference between these two is the Dash type.

Attached. I was playing around a lot with the bitmap but couldn't make it better. I wonder if this is some issue with Visio on my particular computer due to display scaling or something similar.

The problem is you're using a picture to create a line style. That won't work.Visio won't barf, but, as you can see, the results are quite unpredictable.
Wapperdude is right.
I took your picture of the wire, inserted it in Inkscape, vectorized in and pasted it back into Visio.
--- provided --- the resulting vectors are not too complexe, you can use them as line pattern and get satisfying results.
