Title: where's the prompt
Post by: perry59 on May 07, 2021, 09:42:57 PM
I have been using visio 2016 for some time now, but I just noticed something I miss, the prompts on items in a stencil!
In the 2007 version, which I still like to use these show up, the very same stencils in 2016 they are absent, is there a way to get them to display?
I actually need them.

Right-click on the stencil header area and select View -> Icons and Details.

Right clicking the stencil was the first thing I tried, but all I see is this...

Try the header area of the stencil. Or the My Shapes are, there is a similar menu there.

Ok, thanks Paul!
had to right click the stencil name in the "more shapes" list, not the stencil itself!
very intuitive :o

Well, I hoped that would work, but it just blows up my stencil panel so it takes up half the screen, pretty useless.
I can stretch the stencil panel back to show just one column of shapes, but if I restart visio it just blows up again.
Not very happy with this behavior, I need those prompts there because some of my shapes need to be ungrouped after inserting and the prompt showed which ones, now it doesn't and it will confuse users >:(

You need to do a document save with the stencil set as you want it.
