Folks:
I keep getting bitten whenever I put funny characters in a Visio page name, and the latest troublemaker for me was the carriage return. You can assign it to a page name via VBA, and it appears to work – until you close and re-open the document. I searched around and found no mention anywhere of carriage returns causing a problem, so I thought I'd mention it here. And since I'm here, I figure I may as well chronicle them all. Chime in if you know of others.
The forbidden characters include:
- % – percent
- / – slash
- \ – backslash
- ? – question mark
- Carriage Return
- Space as the last character (mentioned here (http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=697.msg3070#msg3070))
In addition to the ones above, the following characters in a page name will cause trouble if you hyperlink to them when saving as a web page
- < – Less than
- > – Greater than
- & – Ampersand
Hope this helps,
- Ken
