Title: Dragging The Stencils into Different Racks
Post by: Yacine on August 19, 2019, 12:22:09 PM

Varun (http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?action=profile;u=21834 (http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?action=profile;u=21834)) sent me a P.M. on a topic I don't feel comfortable with.

May the "rack" guys amongst us have a look at it?

QuoteHi Visio Team,

I created the stencils by using visio professional, My Stencils is fitting in the Rack of size 1.9",

I just want to know is there any options that my stencils fit in the different size of rack automatically with out transform the stencils

Example when i drag and drop my stencils into the rick size of 1.9" its fitting nicley
when i drag and drop my stencils into the rack size of 42U or 47U, its not fitting nicley, i need to transform to the rack size

Please help me to get the script for the stencils which is fits automatically with different racks

is there any possiblity please let me know ?

@Yacine:  Seems I received same message.  Saw your reply.  It was good.  There was no follow-up post as you suggested.

The racks are generally 19" wide, and the "RU" refers to the height.  1RU = 1.75".  The rails of the rack have a specific placement pattern, and restricts physical placement to obtain proper vertical stacking.  The OP provides little useful info and no example to determine the actual problem.  Since racks and the equipment are real physical items, their sizes cannot be arbitrarily changed for real world, standardized application.  Fully custom is obviously different, but we don't know that.

why 1.9in....I know standard is 44.75mm  and OCP is 48mm....but 1.9 is 48.64mm
(are you just rounding for OCP racks got the brevity of discussion?)

You could use shape properties to define 1.75 vs 1.9 vs whatever
Using the dropevent for docmd(1312) used to work well...but in 2013, MS got creative and
it does not work / work reliably anymore.  So user would have to notice or be reminded to check.   Of course, could do the tried of true of 2 sets of shapes:  one at 1.75 and one at 1.9

Here I was thinking 1.9 was a typo, and was intended as 19... which is standard.

QuoteA 19-inch rack is a standardized frame or enclosure for mounting multiple electronic equipment modules. Each module has a front panel that is 19 inches (48.3 cm) wide. The 19 inch dimension includes the edges or "ears" that protrude from each side of the equipment, allowing the module to be fastened to the rack frame with screws. Common uses include computer servers, telecommunications, audio visuals and scientific instruments.

QuoteOCP Conversion Shelves are used to install 19" EIA equipment in an OCP Open Rack. These shelves convert RUs to OUs and eliminate air gaps to increase airflow efficiency. The Conversion Shelf is Perfect for rack-mounting switches and standard 19" appliances using square holes. The shelf has integrated cable pass-through for front to rear access. The OCP Conversion shelf is also capable of tool-less mounting when mounted on top of one of our 2OU OCP Rail Kits

So, additional clarification is needed to define what type of rack.

Note:  could find no reference to 1.9" rack.  That would be very tiny indeed.
