Title: Apply a header to all pages (Visio 2010)
Post by: Anders on November 08, 2017, 05:30:23 PM
Hi, I'm using Visio 2010 and would like to apply a header to each of my 21 charts (tabs). I thought I'd cracked it with the background functionality, but each chart does not fit onto the same number of pages. I find that I have to have a background page for each chart, based on the number of pages is uses, e.g. 2x1, 1x2, 2x2, otherwise they all take the size of the largest chart. It's infuriating because if one chart increases its page count, it affects all the others it shares a common background with.

Is there a simpler way to achieve this?

Thanks.

Background pages don't scale.  Are you using Visio's audio t romantic add a page feature?

It would seem that having a chart span multiple pages is not a good thing.  Turn that feature off and then adjust page size and or scale factor in order to keep the chart on a single page.  You may still need multiple backgrounds...one to match each page size, but it's much more predictable and controllable.

There is a header/footer feature that is now quite well hidden.
File -> Print -> Print Preview
and you will see the Header and Footer option.

Brilliant! Thank-you so much, exactly what I needed.
