Title: Corrupt File Won't Open
Post by: rafferjacks on May 15, 2017, 01:02:17 AM
Hey all,
I've been working on and updating a Visio Drawing file for a month in Visio 2016.  Today, while saving this file, my computer blue screened and shut down.  I didn't think anything of it until I restart my computer to find that the document has been corrupt and cannot be open.  I thought Visio would AutoRecovery Save, but I can't manage to find the recovery file. Is there any way to recover this file so I don't have to start all over? I has been continuously saving it to a PDF which I still have, so I could always try to convert that back into a .vsdx file.

Anyone know where I shoud go from here?

Do you have back-up pdf file ?
Try open that pdf file in Inkscape application (https://inkscape.org/en/), copy content and paste in Visio.
These steps can restore just drawn scheme, but data will lose.

No backup file?
Rule 1: backup often.
