Title: Sheet names cause errors when making changes to shapesheet?
Post by: Michelle on March 11, 2009, 02:45:30 PM
Not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong, but it seems weird...  Here's an example.  I have this bit of instruction in a cell of the Shapesheet:

=OR(NOT((Pages[Page-1]!Excel.8!Prop.InsideWidth>18 ft 10 in)),((Pages[Page-1]!Excel.8!Prop.InsideDepth>18 ft 10 in)))

but it doesn't work quite right, so i want to make a change, say the dimension or maybe even as simple as changing the >'s with <'s.  When I do so, the whole statement comes back with an error.  The problem seems to be my sheet names.  If I go in and also change the "Excel.8!" with "Sheet.8!" in each instance the statement works.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but the "Excel.8!" changed itself to that once I hit enter, as that is the name of that sheet.  I originally entered it as "Sheet.8!"

Is it a bug or do I have a setting or configuration somewhere making this happen?

just curious,
Michelle

Yeah.  I've seen that behavior before.  It's similar to my post in Visio Bugs: Formula Error: Basic Flowchart shapes on different pages, http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=620.0
