Title: Dimensioning - missing yellow diamond
Post by: ayates on November 26, 2016, 01:13:08 PM
I am new to Visio, and and using Visio 2016 Professional on Windows 7.

Dimensioning is very important to the work I plan with Visio, and thus why I picked the professional version. I followed the help, and got the dimensioning mostly working (it is quite nice). But the help tells to drag the yellow diamond so that the extension lines can be positioned to not conflict with the actual diagram. However, for the life of me I cannot find any diamonds when selecting the dimensioning shape.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Allan.

That's funny. The Visio team at M$ is very creative and obviously in need to show how dynamic the development of Visio is.
So they changed obviously the shape of the control points from diamonds to circles. The documentation team seems to not be on track.
Its the gray circles with yellow filling the help is referring to.

I did try shifting all the yellow circles. Referencing the diagram:

#1 - Adjusts height of the 5.87 dimension.
#2 - Adjusts height of the 2.94 and 5.87 dimensions.
#3 - Adjusts the height of the rightmost dimension extension line, but moving it unglues the dimension from the rectangular box and thus the dimension size doesn't follow any box resizing.

My assumption was that support was provided for glued dimension extension lines that were glued to the main shape and also did not overlap the shape.

Thanks,

Allan.
