Title: Making an Imported Shape a "U" Size
Post by: Rees on August 23, 2016, 03:12:38 PM
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would happen to know how to turn an imported shape such as a (1U Rack Mounted Switch) and make it an actual U within Visio. I am kind of new to Visio and can't find a way to do this,so any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

First, set the page scale.  Visio default is 1:1, no units.  Since a rack width is 19 in, set scale to 1" = 2" is good, page s/b landscape.

If the imported shape is truly 1U, then it's width and height ought to have correct ratio, so right click the shape > protection  and lock the aspect ratio.  Then, modify the width = 19 in.,  more or less.  The 19" might be hole to hole spacing, I've forgotten which.

That should take care of the sizing.

I think there are other posts in the forum re gluing issues.
