I understand there is still an ancient law from the time of the Normans that specifies the punishment for defiling the British flag to be for the perpetrator to be deported to Normandy to suffer the total lack of pubs.
So, here I am typing this from the top floor of a chateau near Thury-Harcourt in deepest rural Normandy enjoying some wonderful food, wine, cider, cycling, walking. Just back from a day at Bayeux. Personally I welcome our Norman-Viking overlords ...
