Title: Import into Visio from EA...XMI???
Post by: Captain Flint on May 05, 2016, 12:03:59 PM
Hi,

I am looking at a new requirements tool that has a import function from Visio. I have a lot of legacy material in EA. I'd like to get the EA diagrams into the new tool and so I thought the best way would be to export from EA as XMI and then try and import into Visio. I should then be able to export from Visio into the new tool. I can't find any information on how to import XMI into Visio. Anyone have any idea how to do this or any other suggestions? Is there another product I could import into from EA and then export out of into Visio? Thanks!

I think having seen in one the links a mention of import into Visio.
Otherwise you'll probably need to dive deep into XML and write an import routine.
I could also imagine going over Excel prior to importing into Visio.

As of my knowledge, you can give a shot to bpm-x (http://www.bpm-x.com/) (it can read EA and write Visio).
Other than that, I'm not sure. Visio by itself can't read XMI.
