Title: Swimlane - Process End for each lane?
Post by: matmaliackal on October 20, 2014, 05:36:30 PM
Hello,

I am documenting several processes and I received some feedback from my supervisor that I had incorrectly documented the swimlane.

According to my boss, each swimlane should have a "end process" in the lane regardless of the other departments.

From what I have learned, each work workflow should only have one "end process"

Am I correct or wrong about my understanding?

Thanks all,

While everyone has their own process mapping style, I have never seen a swimlane diagram with an end symbol for each lane. I really can't see a need for this as swimlanes make it evident which tasks are assigned to each role/group/person. I could see a need for this if the swim lanes are intended to be broken up and used independently, just showing the processes that fall into one swim lane without relationship to the other lanes or pools.

That said, you may have to dance to the boss's tune, no matter what.
