Title: Text box location on custom shape
Post by: alanrenouf on December 17, 2008, 12:52:30 PM
Hi,

Im editing an existing shape, I ungroup it, remove a few things, add a few things, group the shape back together.

When i try and use the shape the text box appears in the middle of the shape rather than underneath it and the existing text box stays constantm, is there a way to move the text part of the object back below my re-grouped shape.

Hope this makes sence.

Thanks

Alan

When you did the Ungroup you lost all the properties belonging to the group. You don't need to ungroup anyway.
Go back to the original shape, open it for edit and use the shape explorer to remove the bits you don't want.
Are you editing the shape while it is on the Visio drawing page or are you editing a master shape within a stencil?
If within the stencil then use the Master Explorer window.
If within the Visio page then use the Document Explorer window.
Find the appropriate part of the shape, right-click and select Delete.

Put the new shape (or image in this case) at the appropriate coordinates, select the new shape and the shape you want to add it to, then menu Shape -> Grouping -> Add to Group.

Fantastic, missed the 'Add to group option', all working now.  Thanks
