Title: Legend Symbol Problem
Post by: Damian on October 01, 2012, 10:09:18 PM
Can anyone shed some light on why I'm unable to get a custom filled line to display properly in both the shapes window (ie the icon) and also the symbol on the legend?  It appears as a straight line in both instead of a rail track as per the custom line fill.

I use the shape in a drawing and the rail track effect works - means the recepient of the drawing won't be able to relate to the shape by using the legend and the shape doesn't stand out for the Visio user

Any pointers would be appreciated

Have you created a new master or just modified an existing one? As far as I know the legend addon uses the original master from the document stencil as its source of information. Also, masters are differentiated by the master shape BaseID property.

Thanks for the feedback Paul

With this info I was able to overcome the issue by simply dragging the line to the shapes window and that, I assume, created a new master.  Dragged the new shape back onto the drawing and hey presto the legend updated with a symbol reflecting the shape.

Icon issue remains though

Where can I access the BaseID and is it editable?

As far as I know the BaseID is only accessible via code.
I know of only one software tool that can update the BaseID, and that's one that I wrote.
