Title: "Move other shapes away on drop" for a group
Post by: vsrini29 on October 30, 2008, 08:24:15 PM
In the Context menu for a shape Format>Behaviour, inside the placement
tab, there is "Move other shapes away on drop". When I select "plow
every shape", when I move the shape around, it moves other shapes.
That is good; what I need.

How can I make the same thing happen to a group? This setting does not
seem to affect a group of shapes. I want a group of shapes to move
other shapes around, when I move the group.

Thanks

This was very strange.  Sometimes I could get the group to jump, and other
times not.  Turns out, you can make it always jump if you edit an entry in
the shape sheet.

So, select your shape, go to menu bar > Window > Show Shape Sheet.  Go to
the Miscellaneous section.  (If that's not showing, right click in the shape
sheet window and either Insert or View sections options will have the
Miscellaneous entry that needs to be selected.)  Edit the cell for ObjType
and set the value to 1.  That's it.

Your group should bounce around like an electric bumper car.   :o

When I say select shape, I should have clarified that as the group of shapes.  :P

I've upgraded to visio 2010 x86 recently - interface is dramatically changed... ((
I want to switch off, disable "move away on drop" feature for all of the shapes on the page. It worked this way in 2003, but now if i open the same document - it is on. I found an option in page setup - but it doesn't help. Any ideas ? possible bug ?
