Title: Not displaying shapes depending on their data value
Post by: GlennK on August 07, 2012, 01:38:57 AM
Hi all,
I'm a new user to visio and have tried self educating myself on pivot diagrams. Specifically using pivot diagrams to graphically display my excel pivot table to specific locations on a drawing.
I think I've worked most of it out except for 2 issues. With reference to the following pic
(http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6686/value0.jpg)

1)   How can I make the following shapes/data graphics for "Group Level 4" not show if the date (sum) value =0. Having all the data show up, even if its zero clutters the page.

2)   Not quite so important but it would be a nice feature. I'm sure this would be getting quite complex but, instead of using the data field displayed as Text ...displaying it as a progress bar. The minimum value would be zero, but calculations of the other values would need to be done via the pivot table. With the example shown...on 9th July groundworks completed should be 50% (1 of 2 weeks completed), and on 16th July it should be 100% (2 of 2 weeks completed).

Note: The values displayed are the resources used in a particular area for a particular week in constructing the works. In essence the display of resources is not that important. Just an indication of which area is being worked on in each week. But a progress bar would be more effective as any given week is selected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Geez the lack of detail on this program is frustrating. I stumbled upon the answer to question 1 just now by accident.

Not sure how to describe it but I'll give it a go for anyone thats interested. On the LHS where my categories are, and i can select which date I want to display, click on the drop down menu for the date (in this example it reads 09-Jul-12(Sum))...and select

Configure Column....

From there just write 09-Jul-12 does not equal 0.

Only values that don't have 0 will be displayed.
