Title: Ellipse in quadrangle
Post by: JuneTheSecond on June 03, 2011, 09:30:00 PM
I made 2 shapes with simpler shapesheet than before.
The formulas are made using mathematic software,
and transformed to Visio formula.

Very nice indeed!

Couple of thoughts for future:
1.)  Placing bound limits on the control points.  Someone like me always tries to break things.   ;)
2.)  Adding option, to remove all of the "perspective" lines, and just leave the border around the ellipse.

I would place those on a very low priority.

interesting .. regards the blue ellipse shape -> where is the centre point of this ellipse considered to be?   I ask because this visual reminds me of a 3D modelling problem I had sometime back.
I am thinking the centre point of the ellipse is biases closer to the top of the curve as the triangle apex becomes shorter. :-\

I think there are 2 kind of center, perspective and geometric.
Perspective center is the intersection of diagonal lines of quadrangle.
Geometric center is (User.x0,User.y0) in the shape sheet.

Thanks June.. I like your visual explaination of the perspective centre and agree totally

I found the option in the ShapeSheet cells "X Behavior" and "Y Behavior"
are useful to hide the controls that are not expected for user to move.
You can change visible controls with right click menu "Free Depth" and "Fix Depth" in  "Depth".
I feel user interface is now upgraded much more than before.

And added more right click menus to show and hide axes, and to show or hide frame.

June....by the way, you can extend this to have an action cell to show/hide the controls.
Would allow somebody to "turn on controls...use them....turn off controls"

I have done this on several projects...works well.

Thank you Vojo. Good idea for user and for me also. Thanks.  :)

And here is a  picture and a Visio drawing of multiple ellipses on Asian carpet.
If you move Vanishing point on top of the scene, you can change perspective view.
But the drawing is havy, because here are 100 ellipses.

I made a shape that has 400 ellipses in a group.
It is too big to upload here.
The file size is more than 1.6MB.
