Title: Diagram of all standard Visio Shapes
Post by: martytdx on May 04, 2011, 05:50:26 PM
I tried to find this in the forum but was unsuccessful, so apologies if this has been answered before (and often): is there any reference that shows all of the shapes within each stencil?

There have been several times recently when we've been looking for a shape we've used in the past and can't find it again.  The search (Visio 2007) isn't very good so that didn't help but having a visual reference -- even lo-fi -- would be a huge help.

Short answer to "is there a reference to all visio shapes within each stencil" = no. Many of the stencils (flow chart as an example) are based on 'generally accepted symbols', so you have to look else where for that. For flowcharts (and many others) I'd suggest you check out wikipedia.

Thanks - we were looking for more of an index/cheatsheet so we wouldn't have to look through all of them.  Oh well...

There is one, well, I've written one, but it will involve you installing an addon:
http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/ (http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/)
Within the new SuperUtils -> Stencil menu there is a Stencil Display which ... well, give it a go.

As it is my replacement for a feature that MS dropped from Visio some time ago this part of the program is completely free, it will just continue to work without you paying for the software, however, should you wish to do so ...
