Title: Importing data from Excel into Visio possible?
Post by: needvisiohelp on March 31, 2011, 08:00:50 PM
I was wondering if it was possible to import data from Excel into, say, a box shape in Visio? I am looking to make an organization chart with budget totals allotted for each program (boxes) from Excel.  :-\

As always, thank you for the help!

That depends on your Visio Version. Is it Professional or Standard?

You can import data from excel to Visio (http://visiotoolbox.com/2010). Use the Data Selector Wizard to import your data into the external data window. The data that appears in the external data window is a snapshot of your source data at the time of import. Follow the steps
•  On the data menu, click link data to shapes
•  On the first page of the data selector wizard, choose data sources you want to use
•  Complete the remainder of the wizard
After you click finish on the last page of the Data Connection Wizard, the external data window appears with your imported data shown in a grid
