Title: Reading data from Access into Visio
Post by: Chupacabra on April 24, 2008, 04:55:18 PM
I work in the area of preventing and resolving cases of financial exploitation of elderly persons. I would like to configure Visio in such a way that I can export accounting data from QuickBooks to Excel or Access and read it into Visio for the purpose of building large graphical courtroom exhibits showing the flows of money from the victim to the perpetrator. This application would be dynamic in that as new information is entered in QuickBooks, the flowchart numbers would be easily updatable. Could somebody please suggest a method for approaching this task?

I'd suggest that you start with v2007 pro for the datalinking process. You should also consider checking out David Parkers book and take a look at pivot table diagrams.

One of the few things already discussed here ( looks like many people want to use this function ) is linking data to your visio shapes.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254591
Tells you how to link Excel to Visio shapes

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa722522.aspx
Will help you link Access.

Personaly ive linked Access before, it works nice. Though the wizzard is somewhat limited.
