Title: bitmap as background/filling pattern of shape
Post by: tomverbinnen on February 26, 2010, 11:31:20 AM
Hello,
I want to have a country flag as the filling of certain shapes,
I've tried to do this creating new filling pattern, but the it never scales correctly,
I just want the bitmap to fill the entire shape.
Any suggestions on how to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried just putting the flag over the top of the shape, then grouping them?

Just tried it, but that doesn't nicely fill up the shape - I'm using ethernet bus shapes (network diagrams).

If you're trying to fill the shape by expanding a single "flag" (note the aspect ratio may be distorted), then, if you open the Size & Position Window (it's under View), select the shape to be filled & note the width & length.  Now select the flag, and enter the same values in the S&P window.  The flag will be exactly the same size.  Group as suggested by Paul.

If you use custom fill pattern, then Visio will try to do it's best.  You could make the flag pattern smaller such that you get a bunch of flags as pattern in the shape.
