Hi,

I Just installed Visio 2007 and I need to create some macros but I am unable to do it because in menu Tools->Macro->"Recor New Macro..." and "Visual Basic Editor Alt+F11" are disabled.

I have check "Enabled all macros..." in Trust Center.

What else do I have to do?

Do you have a document open? Macro recording won't work if there is no open document.

In Visio 2003 there was the setting
menu Tools -> Options -> Security
"Enable Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications"
which if unticked greys out the Macro menus

but I cannot find this in Visio 2007.

However, it is a registry setting
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application\NoVBA
ensure this is set to 0

Hi Paul,

In regedit there is no "NoVBA"  in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application.
I can add a new key or value. What should I do?

I'm away from the office at the moment and have no access to Visio (I forgot to bring along the laptop, but that has Visio 2010 so not so much use). There is a setting to make sure that Visio stores all its settings in the registry, I think it's in the Tools -> Options -> Advanced menu. Called "Store all settings in registry" or similar. Tick this, close Visio, restart Visio and close it again. You may now find that NoVBA setting in the registry.

Hi Paul,

I can see all the regestry settings now, but I am still unable to record macro because the otpion is unavailable.
It's possible record macros in all versions of Visio 2007 (Standard, Professioal, Enterprise, etc)?

Regards,
Elio

Hi Paul,

I just found that some features related with Microsoft Office in Visio 2007 were not installed.
Now I can record macros. Thanks for your help.

I know this is an older post, but I am experiencing the same problem. Do you know what features were missing?

Thanks,
Neil
