Hi, I did a search on this and it seems that Visio does not have a way for viewers an easy way to control which layer they want to see at one time.

Is this correct?

In v2010 on the home panel, click layers, select what you want to see. In v2007 select view, layer properties, etc.....
How much easier does it get?

Hi Al, I think surf-dude might be talking about the fact that there is no modeless dialog. You have to keep opening the dialog, then close it.

For people who do cad-like stuff, or illustration, they fiddle with the layers constantly, and Visio's layer dialog is really bad. It needs to be an anchor bar.

That would be great if I had v2010 but I'm running 2007  :(

Chris, That's why I was confused. I never saw it as an issue since I've never used CAD other than to get it to something I could convert from. v2007/v2010 have the same modal operation, just in different places. If it's that big of an issue, I'm surprised nobody ever put out an anchor window based add-on to offer it as a feature.
Oh well, see you in Redmond.

I've built one for a customer (for money). It turns out to be a bit trickier than obvious to do well.  A lot of things can change while the anchor bar is "watching"...
