External Data Scroll

Is there any way to scroll through the external data tables by typing in the first few characters of the uniquely identified row?  It would be so convenient to select the external data window and begin typing in a part number and have that pat number automatically selected rather then having to scroll through the couple thousands parts i have to find the correct one.
