How to create a custom arrowhead ?

I am trying to create a connector with an arrowhead of a circle with a plus sign. 

Although I am able to edit this graphical shape, the TEXT that I added withing the circle moves out of the circle when the connector is rotated.

How can I get this to work ?

If your text only contains the + sign, you could draw the sign with two lines instead of using text...

Another way is custom pattern for line ends.

Why is that I cannot use text in custom patterns?

Custom patterns don't support text or other custom patterns (nested patterns) or gradient fills (well, they work a little bit, but they don't rotate).
